The team enjoying some downtime during an event.Team Elite Combat Unit was established in the summer of 2007 by TechnoMagi and GunnerDrone, two friends and frequent players AirSofters at the Whitehall Ruins. At the time of establishment, the team did not go by the name Elite Combat Unit. Instead, the team was known as /b/lackup which was derived from an internet meme at the time. Soon after, /b/lackup began to grow as TechnoMagi and GunnerDrone attended various skirmishes and small events.

A WELL DESERVED CHANGE.

In the third quarter of 2008, with Team /b/lackup eight members strong and AirSofting more frequently, the members of the team met and discussed changes which would allow the team to get more recognition and look more presentable to the community. With these changes, /b/lackup was no more, and the Team Elite Combat Unit was born. Squads were organized, and an insignia for the team was also produced. The insignia consisted of a spade with a World War II styled gas mask inside. As events and skirmishes passed, the team grew not only in size however, the bonds between members grew as well.

At these events, Elite Combat Unit worked in two 5-man squads which utilized stealth, guerrilla warfare tactics to take out the opposing forces.

Elite Combat Unit is now taking a less passive role in the airsoft community. Along with the expansion of the team and reorganization, Elite Combat Unit is currently discussing opening a Woodsball field which is approx. 3 acres, as well as a MOUT type field which is approx. 30+ acres where we are going to hold our first ever operation hosted by the team. Team ECU is also looking into travelling out west to play a few games in Tennessee and upstate New York later this year.
